Beautiful Sunday here in Verbier: we started masterclasses with Ferenc Rados, went to Daniil Trifonov’s recital, rehearsed the Faure Piano quartet and had our Media Coaching Session with theatre director Tim Carroll. Well this was brilliant: each of us interviewed and was interviewed, all filmed on Medici Arts TV. We watched it afterwards and made comments- all a learning curve. I asked Tim what was the most important aspect of public speaking. He mentioned sniffing the room by feeling the atmosphere and not loosing the audience, also being on the receiver end as well as transmitter. He told us there was a survey done in the UK about no 1 fear: guess what? Public speaking was no 1, while death was second… On a more positive note, the concert this evening was the most special I’ve ever been to and felt extra lucky to be able to go in. It was the 20th anniversary concert with Monty Alexander, Nicholas Angelich, Emanuel Ax, Yuri Bashmet, Gautier and Renaud Capucon, Martin Frost, Kissin, Pressler, Pletnev, Thomas Quastoff, Gabor Takacs-nagy, Daniil Daniil Trifonov, Yuja Wang, Maisky, Kavakos, Tamestit..imagine missing that! Of course there were absolutely no tickets left but I never lose hope and as usual, persistence prevails;-) It was incredible, thank you so much Verbier!
