Day 3

The essence of Klaus Hellwig’s masterclass was ‘Truth comes before Beauty’. Then lunch with Ivry Gitlis. He said I asked stupid questions. I felt hurt…Thomas Gould interviewed the legend in the evening: The maestro talked about growing up, the incredible people he met and worked with on his journey, his first encounter with George Enescu who signed a photo for him with ‘Passion et courage. Enescu sat at the piano and played everything, as if he caried you…’ Ivri also talked about improvising so that his mum would think he was practicing. Oh and by the way, he began his interview with ‘the most stupid questions are the important ones’… I suppose there’s still hope for me then
