Join us for my debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Dirk Brosse at the Southbank Centre on 14 Feb. Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 precedes a special screening of Brief Encounter, with the soundtrack performed live by Southbank Centre’s resident orchestra and myself.

David Lean’s 1945 film traces the repressed infidelity of a married doctor and suburban housewife who meet on a train platform. It features Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 at various points – indeed, the film was largely responsible for making this passionate work famous in the UK.
