The most exciting week of my life so far has begun. 6 am start, huge storm in London but somehow I get to Paddington. Train delays everywhere, people soaked and quite a grim atmosphere. I finally board, change at Bath Spa, where the next train is 40 minutes delayed -this means I will only have half an hour to warm up, get changed and do my hair. This lunchtime I launch the new Recital Series at the Wiltshire Arts Centre.
Everyone is so nice and friendly, they even got me gluten free macaroons 🙂 Last time I was here was in January with the Wiltshire Youth Orchestra and Tim Redmond playing Rachmaninov Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Such fun, really miss them! The recital went down a storm and the audience enjoyed me introducing each piece. They laughed at my image of one of the Shostakovich preludes as a brass band trying to play together. Drunk brass band! As soon as I finished performing, I ran (literally) to the station to catch the next train back to Paddington to catch the Heathrow Express to the airport.
Off to Bucharest for 12 hours! Arrived safely and this is the view from my hotel window
